For the year 2011 in place of the common 8 week PRIA International Internship Programme (PIIP), customised Internships are proposed for the following institutions:
(a) Munk School of Global Affairs , University of Toronto, Canada
Masters of Global Affairs (MGA )Internship: The MGA Internship is mandatory part of the MGA program of Munk School of Global Affaires. The 8 week MGA Internship is designed as a Research Project, which students will take as part of their Masters Programme. The MGA Internship will include 2 weeks of classroom orientation, 5 weeks of field engagement in rural and urban grassroots locations of India (PRIA and its partners field sites), and 1 week for students to consolidate their learnings .The proposed period for the internship is Summer of 2011 .
(b) Calgary Board of Education (CBE), Canada
Exposure programme : Building on the successful launch of a three week exposure programme for 13 staff of Calgary Board of Education (CBE), Canada during July 2010, the next batch of the Exposure Programme is planned for July 2011. CBE is one of the largest school boards in Canada, with over 100,000 schools within it. The objectives of the Exposure Programme will be to strengthen an understanding on Participatory Research (PR) philosophy and methods; critically assess implications of Participatory Research and Participatory Development approaches in mainstreaming Gender issues in development and governance interventions; and strengthen understanding on the practice of participatory approaches in development and governance interventions, with special focus on education. The proposed period for the Exposure Programme is July 2011.
(c) Department of Geography, University of Victoria (UVic),Canada
India Field School: An international field school will be launched in India, which will provide UVic students with an opportunity for overseas study .Students will be introduced to the Geography of India, learn about Indian approaches to governance and participatory development, be exposed to participatory research methodologies and tools, understand challenges associated with conservation planning in a crowded world and experience inter cultural perspectives. The Field school will be for 7 weeks, with 4 weeks in India and 3 weeks in Canada. In its initial offering it is aimed at 15 Geography students at UVic ,wherein the students will earn credits for their engagement .The proposed period for the first batch of the Field School in India is August 2011.
